Recent Clients

QuarkNet, University of Notre Dame and Fermilab. An evaluation of a collaborative, long-term, national program that seeks to partner high school science teachers with particle physicists working in experiments at the scientific frontier. A professional development program, QuarkNet immerses teachers in authentic physics research and seeks to engage them in the development of instructional strategies and best practices that facilitate the implementation of these principles in their classrooms.

We have worked with the following clients on multiple-year, outcomes-based evaluations.

  • Teaching Evolution through Human Examples (TEtHE), Smithsonian National Museum of National History.  An evaluation of a program to develop and implement supplemental educational materials for AP biology classes in teaching evolution through the use of human examples, such as altitude adaptation, skin color, malaria, and what does it mean to be human.
  • The Educational Development Center, Mathematics Coaching Supporting English Language.  An evaluation of a professional development program designed to help elementary school teachers and coaches make challenging mathematics more accessible to students who are English language learners.
  • Chicago Teacher Transformation Institutes, University of Illinois Chicago. An evaluation of a program designed to increase content pedagogy (math and science) and leadership skills of participating public high school teachers and schools.
  • The Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program at California State University San Bernardino.  An evaluation of a program providing special research training support to 4-year colleges and universities with substantial enrollments of minority students to increase the number and competitiveness of underrepresented minorities engaged in biomedical research.
  • The Old Westbury Neuroscience International Program (OWNIP) Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training (MHIRT) at SUNY at Old Westbury College.  An evaluation of a program to encourage more minority students to pursue a career leading to a PhD in biomedical research and related science fields through an international research experience.
  • The Illinois Institute of Technology, Physical Science Initiative. An evaluation of a state endorsement program in middle school physical science leading to a masters degree in science education.
  • Chicago State University (CSU), An evaluation of CSU’s Minority Biomedical Research Support, Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (MBRS-RISE) Program funded by the National Institutes of Health designed to encourage minority students to pursue a career in biomedical research.
  • City Year Inc., Analytic report for the evaluation of their Whole School Whole Child Program (under auspices of Brett Consulting Group) during multiple administration of school-wide surveys across multiple sites.
  • Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo, A multi-year evaluation of a science literacy program for Chicago Public elementary and high school teachers.
  • Bronx Zoo, An evaluation of a model program for integrating informal science expertise into the preparation of pre-service science teachers.
  • Museums In The Park, An evaluation of a hybrid after-school and outreach program, Park Voyagers, through a collaboration with the Chicago Park District and 10 Chicago Museums and Cultural Institutions.
  • John G. Shedd Aquarium , An evaluation of a science literacy program offered to participating elementary Chicago Public Schools.
  • National Center for Improving Science Education/WestEd, A multiple-year evaluation of Collaborative for Excellence in Teacher Preparation in Pennsylvania (CETP-PA) project funded by the National Science Foundation.
